Business Crime Action Week

From June 23 to June 28 our Business Crime Team took part in a week of action with the Met Police. Friday 28 June saw a day dedicated to stopping crime in Angel.
Police officers joined our Business Crime Manager, Gerry Morgan, and our business crime team to focus on shoplifting. Across the week, 71 arrests were made in Islington with 16 people being given other penalties. One of those arrested was a prolific shoplifter in Angel who was found in possession of stolen items and drugs, as well as being wanted for recall to prison.
Looking more widely across the rest of the year, we have seen four of our most wanted shoplifters arrested and imprisoned this year.
We have two dedicated police officers working with us to tackle shoplifting and we want to make these action days a regular occurrence. However, we can't fight crime in the Angel without the input of those of you affected day to day. It's vital that shoplifting is reported and we're reliant on the support of evidence such as CCTV. Every report is reviewed and will be prosecuted if there is evidence. If you need help to report or have an issue at your business, contact Gerry at Gerry@angelislington.london
