Shyam Ravrani tells us about how his business, Insight Health Clinic, has been supporting the Chapel Market and Angel community for over 40 years.

Shyam, can you tell us a bit about yourself and your experience in acupuncture?

My professional training encompasses various modalities of acupuncture, enabling me to draw on different techniques and approaches according to individual needs. My interest in homeopathy has also taken me to centres around the world, broadening my knowledge through exposure to different practitioners, traditions and approaches.

Tell us about your business and offering

Insight Integrative Health Clinic has been part of the Chapel Market community since 1984, caring for generations of individuals and families. Our philosophy is simple: good health deserves attention throughout life, not only when illness arises. We believe healthcare should extend beyond responding to symptoms. It should also encourage greater health awareness, informed lifestyle choices and a proactive approach to personal wellbeing.

I work alongside Ravi Ponniah, our principal practitioner, who brings over 45 years of experience in complementary and integrative healthcare. Together, we combine our knowledge, experience and expertise with a shared commitment to thoughtful, personalised care. We believe good healthcare begins with listening, understanding the individual and encouraging people to take an active role in their own health and wellbeing.

What should someone expect from a consultation with you?

Our greatest strengths are the combined experience of our practitioners, the time and attention we devote to each individual, and the relationships we have built within our community. At Insight, every consultation begins with a conversation. We take time to listen, understand your concerns and appreciate the circumstances that may influence your health and wellbeing. Our appointments are deliberately unhurried, providing a calm and welcoming environment where you can discuss your concerns openly and comfortably.

What makes your business unique? Why should people visit?

You don't have to be ill to make your health a priority. A consultation can simply be an opportunity to review your wellbeing, discuss lifestyle concerns, ask questions and consider ways to take better care of yourself. Our purpose is not merely to address the concerns that bring you through our doors, but also to encourage a more informed, balanced and proactive approach to health and wellbeing.

Tell us a bit about your Chapel Market location

Chapel Market has been an integral part of Angel since the 1860s, retaining the character, warmth and strong community spirit of a traditional London street market. Despite being just five minutes from Angel Underground station, it has maintained a genuine neighbourhood atmosphere, bringing together local residents, independent businesses, traders and visitors. For us, the most rewarding aspect of working here has been the opportunity to build lasting relationships with the people and families who make up this community. Over the years, we have had the privilege of welcoming several generations of families into our clinic.
